We Need An Affordable Budget

Ottawa, ON – Vincent Ho, Conservative Member of Parliament for Richmond Hill South, released the following statement on the Liberal budget:

“After ten years of Liberal money-printing deficits that delivered the worst inflation in 40 years and increased the cost of everything, life has become completely unaffordable for far too many. Mark Carney said he would deliver change, but under the Liberals, it’s only getting worse.”

“The prices of groceries, rent, and homes continue to climb. Taxes are up while investment is fleeing the country. Food bank use across Canada has reached historic highs because hardworking Canadians are unable to feed their families.”“But instead of addressing the hardships Canadians face, Carney insists that further sacrifice is needed. Doubling down on the policies that lead to so much damage, he’s increasing inflationary spending and keeping the taxes that shut youth out of jobs.”“It is time for action, which is why Conservatives are demanding an affordable budget for an affordable Canada that will:

1. Scrap hidden taxes on food – The Liberals have put in place at least four hidden food taxes – the industrial carbon tax, the fuel standard carbon tax on gas and diesel, the billion-dollar food packaging tax, and the inflation tax – all of which are increasing the cost of food in Canada.

2. Cut taxes on work, home-building, investment and energy – Our workers need stronger pay cheques; the government must reduce the income tax, capital gains tax, industrial carbon tax and home-building taxes.

3. Stop the inflation tax – The deficit must be kept below the $42 billion that the previous Liberal administration left behind. This can be accomplished by unlocking resource development and cutting wasteful spending on bureaucracy, foreign aid, and payouts to false refugee claimants.”

“Carney promised to be different, but he’s spending more while $47.6 billion in investment has fled. Every dollar spent by the Carney Liberals comes directly out of Canadians’ pockets through higher taxes and inflation. That’s why grocery prices are up, and we are now the fastest-shrinking economy in the G7.

“Canadians – and especially our young people – have sacrificed enough to support this government. It’s time they delivered a budget that restores hope and affordability in this country.”
