COVID-19 rates are dropping tremendously across the country. We have worked together and have slowed the spread of COVID-19, and we hope to be able to contain the virus. Now is the time to figure out how we can stop a second wave from spreading. We will need to stop travel from hot zones and make sure that people wear masks.
Canada Day celebrations will look different this year with COVID-19. Instead of big events, this Canada Day will be an opportunity to spend time with our families and to celebrate living in the best country in the world.Instead of Canada Day events in Ottawa, the celebration has been moved online. You can catch the virtual events online on July 1st at this website.

The day show begins at 1:00 PM with various artists and the evening show starts at 8:00 PM.
Regardless of how you celebrate, I would like to wish you a very Happy Canada Day!
Update on Government Emergency Aid Programs
Some of the programs announced to help inpiduals and families get through COVID-19 are being updated regularly to make them more accessible.
These are some of the recent changes.
- CEBA LOAN – The $40,000 loan the Government is offering to small businesses has been expanded. Entrepreneurs using personal chequing accounts are still not eligible for this program.
- CERB – The program was extended for two additional months.
My Conservative colleagues and I are calling on the government to change CERB. We believe workers should receive a scaling CERB top off when they return to work. Right now, workers lose the benefit entirely when they make more than $1,000 in a month. The current system punishes people for going back to work.
More info on all the programs can be found here:

COVID-19 PPE
Many organizations are still struggling to provide masks and other PPE. I have continued to work with suppliers to make sure that our front line workers have the tools to do their job safely.
As the economy reopens, I would like to remind you to keep following the safety guidelines to control the spread of COVID-19.
Thank you to the organizations and inpiduals that continue to supply PPE to the communities.

Canada Summer Jobs
Every year the Federal Government rolls out the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This program funds jobs for students to work at different organizations that are helping their communities across Canada.I was very happy to join Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Constantinos Economos and Parish President Mr. John Psihos and the students at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church for their Canada Summer Jobs Orientation. I’m certain the students will gain valuable experience over the summer in a safe environment.
Celebrated the 6th International Day of Yoga on June 20th with the world renowned Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev by striking my yoga poses. Practicing Yoga helps to boost both mood and health. It helps to relieve stress and to keep us healthy. I encourage you to keep active as well.
Interview with Portuguese TV Station
This week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Manuel Alexanre to talk about the issues that affect Markham-Unionville and politics in the GTA.
Racism has no place in our society and cannot be tolerated. It is time for all of us to stand up, and let’s all do our part, to stamp out racism.
