WATCH: Ford joined by Minister of Health for today’s announcement

Premier Doug Ford announced today that the province is establishing Supply Ontario, a centralized procurement agency that will leverage the province’s buying power and save taxpayers money.

Ford said the new initiative will allow Ontario to purchase PPE in bulk at a lower cost, while coordinating distribution more efficiently.

Supply Ontario will save $1 to $2 billion per year, Ford projected.

“It will also make it easier for businesses of all sizes to work with the government of Ontario.,” he said during today’s announcement. “From the mom and pop shops to larger companies, we want to purchase and promote more Ontario-made products.”

Small businesses can now apply for PPE grants which allows up to $1,000 for the purchase of surgical masks, gloves, physical barriers, and other safety measures.

Applications are also open for the $300 million small business rebate program to assist with property taxes and energy bills.
