The employees, who positive tests for the virus were confirmed on Nov. 21 and 23, had last worked at the bulk good retailer on Nov. 17 and 21 respectively.
The new Pin Oak Drive location opened its doors to the public on Nov. 13.
Costco also stated it has contacted Niagara Public Health and are cooperating with them with any additional directions. The company is also undertaking additional cleaning and sanitation and will continue with its daily enhanced cleaning.
They will also communicate directly with any co-workers known to have been in close contact with the individuals.
The company has not posted information about the positive tests for its membership customers; there is no sign posted in the store, nor any information on their website.
In a statement sent to Niagara this Week, Dr. Mustafa Hirji, Niagara’s acting medical officer of health, said that in this type of situation they work with businesses to identify and inform employees as well as customers who at risk of infection. Businesses are required to provide any assistance in this effort.
Hirji said they offer to help businesses with any public messaging.
“We typically work with the business on communications, recognizing that businesses want to manage and protect their relationships with their employees and customers,” he said.
