The 7th World Mahjong Championships came to a successful conclusion at the Mississauga Convention Center on October 14, 2024 at 3:00 pm. The tournament attracted 170 top players from 17 countries around the world, and after three days and ten games of intense competition, the players engaged in a high level of skill competition, demonstrating the excellent level of competition and rich experience in the tournament.
During the tournament, the players from different countries demonstrated the unique charm of Mahjong as an intellectual sport through precise calculation and strategic deployment.
Each game was full of tension, with the players responding calmly and the audience holding their breath as the game progressed. Participants from different countries not only added international color to the tournament, but also promoted the communication and understanding between different cultures through the tournament.

The tournament was supported by guests from all walks of life and was sponsored by VisitMississauga with a $20,000 grant. In addition, Bird Health Mahjong Machine Co. Ltd. provided 60 free mahjong machines for the tournament, which provided a strong guarantee for the smooth running of the tournament. This support not only provides an important guarantee for the success of the tournament, but also highlights the tournament’s influence in the local community and on the international stage.

The “Best Partner Award” was firstly announced and our partners, TRYKON Mahjong Machines Ltd. and VisitMississauga Program of Mississauga, were awarded for their strong support. Although the City of Mississauga was not present to receive the award, a representative from Bird Health Mahjong Machines Ltd. received the honor on stage and posed for a group photo with the guests.
Next, the [National/Regional Team Award] was presented to the most outstanding national and regional teams in this year’s tournament.

The awarding of the top three places was done by Steve Xu, Vice President of the Canadian National Standard Mahjong Association. Canada’s Gao Erfei won the Individual Champion, Germany’s Dagmar Fischer was the 1st runner-up, and Canada’s Lin Hai was the 2nd runner-up. The winners took the stage to receive their awards amidst the warm applause of the audience and became the focus of this year’s tournament.

The ceremony ended on a warm note. In his closing remarks, host Barry Zhu once again congratulated all the winners and expressed his sincere gratitude to the tournament’s organizing team and all the supporters. Guests expressed their anticipation for next year’s tournament, and the players concluded this unforgettable international mahjong event with honors and rewards.
