伍凤仪专文：建设富有生机、创新和包容的加拿大

大家好！

时光飞逝，我担任这个社区的国会议员已有两年，沿着我们共同的挚友麦家廉（John McCallum）阁下的足迹服务于社区。

有幸代表这个选区的居民在渥太华发声，这绝对是我的荣幸。我们的万锦-康山区确实是最富有生机、最富有创新、而且最具包容的社区。

每次我在万锦-康山区探访民众，我都能感受到这里的多元化和欢迎移民的氛围。从犹太恰巴德中的擘饼仪式，到穆斯林斋月中的开斋小吃；从在多族裔多宗教的活动中与选区街坊们攀谈，到参与众多的节庆活动，庆祝将我们和谐凝聚的多元文化，如万锦所特有的亚洲美食节，还有更多的诸如印度光明节Vaisaikhi、排灯节Diwali、泰米尔的丰收节Thai pongal、以及华人的中国新年Chinese New Year等等……。

我们是一个由不同语言、不同信仰、不同传统而组成的社区，而凝聚在一起，我们将万锦-康山区打造成一个美好的家园。

在敲门拜访选民时，我遇见了一位年轻的父亲，他最近刚刚带着自己的妻子和两个孩子来到加拿大定居，希望给他们的孩子们一个有机会的未来。这样的故事并非独一无二，全国数以百万计的加拿大人都是这样来到这个国度。而这样的移民故事正是让我们国家独一无二的故事。

 

这是我们政府推出「加拿大儿童福利金Canada Child Benefit」的原因。因为我们政府知道，投资于民，投资于新一代的加拿大人，就是投资于我们国家的未来。 也正是因为这样的原因，我们政府创立了加拿大暑期工计划，帮助年轻人获得宝贵的工作经历，同时帮助雇主从新一代劳动者那里接触创新的理念。

我们也深知，老年人是建设这个社区的基石。我们政府致力于支持老年人。通过诸如「新视界老年计划」等政策，我看到保障老年人积极参与和交流所带来的活力。

我们相信，加拿大各个部分的组合可以实现一加一大于二。因此我们政府投资于民，投资于未来。

您不用寻找太远就可以看到，如果有一个政府只关注政治口号、任人唯亲而不是关注民生，会产生什么样的影响。

在紧缩和财政「审慎」的名义之下，道格·福特削减服务，斩断了万锦市居民拥有一个大学校园的梦想。他们迫使中学学生们走上街头，抗议班级人数的增加和教育质量的降低。他们也剥夺了创业者获得有益资源和服务的机会。毋容置疑，如果安德鲁·谢尔获得机会，他将跟随他的朋友福特的脚步。

但是对于我、特鲁多总理、以及我所有的同事们来说，没有任何事情比投资我国年轻人的成功更为重要，比保障我们的老年人获得所需的支持和照顾更为重要，比为我们的孩子以及他们的后代争取一个良好的环境和清洁的空气更为重要。

此次选举，关系到比您和我更为重大的东西——关系到我们将留下什么样的一个国家给下一代的加拿大人。

我非常高兴地宣布，张丽君(Linda Zhang)、Khalid Usman(夏仕民)、Malliha Wilson、 陈国治(Michael Chan)、以及 Koki Patel正式成为我的竞选共同主席。我也希望藉此机会表彰并感谢万锦-康山区联邦自由党协会所展现出来的接触领导才能和志愿者的奉献精神。这是一个非凡的团队，那些在我身后支持我的工作人员，以及所有今天在场支持我的各位人士。

携手同心，我们将继续为加拿大人民所希望以及赢得的正面的变革而奋斗。携手同心，我们将打造我们共同的国家——
一个包容而不是排斥的加拿大；
一个凝聚而不是分化的加拿大；
一个建设而不是拆毁的加拿大；
一个滋养众生而不是放弃忽略的加拿大。

携手同心，自从2015年以来，我们已经创造了超过100万个就业职位，为900万勤奋工作的加拿大人减税，给加拿大工商界一个世界最低的小商业税率，确保了多项新的贸易协定，使得加拿大企业可以获得15亿通向15亿消费者的市场，帮助了84,000年轻人获得工作经验，我们还制定了抗击气候变化的计划，投资学生，支持老年人。

我们正在取得真实的进步，帮助所有加拿大人取得成功，但我需要你们的帮助来继续这项重要的工作。

Dr. Laura Xinglai Huang announces her candidacy for the Don Valley North Liberal Party nomination in the coming Federal Election – A Woman of Diligence, Generosity, Sincerity and Integrity

Dr. Laura Huang is entering the nomination contest to become the Liberal candidate for Don Valley North in the upcoming federal election this fall. Her career as a scientist is balanced with her extensive community work in the riding. She is persistent and tireless in the pursuit to improve opportunities for children and youth, and in her efforts to encourage new immigrants to participate in Canadian society and politics.

Dr. Huang received her PhD in Earth and Space Science from York University, and is employed as a scientist with the Canadian government. Accomplished in many different fields and industries, Laura is extremely capable of adapting to any task with ease. Her past roles include engineer, university lecturer, adjunct professor and senior programmer in a variety of places including research institutions, universities, IT companies, the financial industry as well as government bureaus.

Laura has dedicated herself to community service, with a passion for the cultivation and development of children, youth, and assisting immigrants in Canada. ?Her previous roles include being the President of the Hunan Fellow Association of Canada, as well as the Chairman of the Youth Future Foundation. She founded the “Children’s Spring Festival Gala,” a well-known event involving and attracting thousands of youth and families every year.

She has actively volunteered in election campaigns and has encouraged many residents to become involved in politics. Laura has deep community connections within Don Valley North and has worked side by side with many residents in the riding. Her work in the riding to meet the needs of constituents has gained her the respect and unwavering support of many. Her participation in the nomination contest will demonstrate her continuing commitment to democratic participation as well as encouraging cooperation among all Canadians.
