On October 4, 2025, on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada hosted a warm and harmonious Mid-Autumn Media Reception at its elegant Wuguantang Hall. More than twenty Chinese-language media outlets from across North America, together with Venerable Dayi — President of the Buddhist Association of Canada —, scholars, and lay supporters gathered to celebrate the festival of reunion and friendship.

“Good afternoon, dear media friends! Thank you for driving over an hour to join us here at Wutai Shan on this special day before the Mid-Autumn Festival,” said Venerable Dayi in his heartfelt opening remarks. “Every year around this time, we look forward to seeing you again. You are not only the chroniclers of Wutai Shan’s journey, but also our fellow travelers along the path.”
He reflected on the nineteen-year journey of the Buddhist Garden — from an empty field to three magnificent temple halls — and expressed deep gratitude:
“There are so many people and moments to be thankful for — especially our media friends, who have used words, images, and sound to let the world see and hear the story of Wutai Shan.”
Honorary Co-Chair of the Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden Construction Committee, Mr. Mingliang Huang, delivered a speech.
Joyous News for the Festival — Guanyin Hall to Open Soon
Bringing festive cheer, Venerable Dayi announced exciting news:
“Just yesterday, we received the government’s formal approval — the Guanyin Hall will soon be open to the public! It’s the best gift we could receive for the Mid-Autumn Festival.”
He added that the Dizang Hall is also nearing completion and will be fully operational within two months.
Venerable Dayi also previewed two upcoming cultural events:
-
October 16 – Opening of the Thangka Art Exhibition, led by a Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage master and his disciples;
-
October 17 – an Academic Symposium on Buddhist Art and Culture.
He extended a sincere invitation to all media friends to “return to Wutai Shan to appreciate art, exchange ideas, and continue our shared good karma.”

Sharing and Fellowship Over a Vegetarian Feast
At noon, a refined vegetarian luncheon was served in Wuguantang Hall. Each dish, made from fresh local ingredients, embodied the Buddhist ideals of purity and compassion while symbolizing Mid-Autumn reunion and gratitude.
During the meal, media representatives engaged in lively exchanges. Speakers included Sun Bo, Editor-in-Chief of Canada Network TV; Jack Jia from SuperLife / Stars Lifestyle; Jeff Gao from Easy Media; veteran journalist Liu Chenxi; and Jennifer Zhu from Canada Vision Media. They shared their long-standing connections with Wutai Shan and offered valuable insights on cultural communication, event planning, and community engagement.
To express heartfelt appreciation, Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden presented guests with handcrafted vegan mooncakes and Mid-Autumn souvenir gifts.
“Though small, these mooncakes carry our deep gratitude,” said Venerable Dayi. “At Wutai Shan, you are always family. You are welcome here anytime — this will always be your home.”

Visit to the Soon-to-Open Guanyin Hall
In the afternoon, guests were guided by Venerable Dayi to visit the soon-to-be-opened Guanyin Hall. The hall’s intricate wooden structure and tranquil atmosphere, infused with the natural fragrance of Laotian rosewood, inspired peace and reverence.
Standing before the grand Mountain Gate, many journalists reflected on Wutai Shan’s 19-year transformation — from vision to reality.
“We are not only witnesses, but part of this cultural journey,” said one media guest.
As the sun set, warm light bathed the temple grounds, bringing the gathering to a gentle close. Media friends departed carrying mooncakes and blessings — a token of harmony and gratitude.
This Mid-Autumn reception not only deepened the enduring friendship between Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden and the media community, but also added a radiant cultural note to the approaching festival.
