The〝Memorial Exhibition of Artist James Lee” will be held from November 9th (Saturday) to 14th (Thursday) at Ontario Chinese Artists Association/OCAA, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm. The exhibition will showcase the works from the local famous artist James Lee. It is open to the public and the opening ceremony will start at 2:00pm on November 9th.

James created paintings and advertisement during the world war II. Then he received the art training in university, after the war. He loved painting, poetry, engraving… but sketching, watercolor painting, and acrylic were what he favored most. He had taught fine art in high school for more than 30 years in Macao China. After retirement, he move to Canada and participated in the Master’s program at the University of Saskatchewan, in order to study the “Group of Seven ” technique. This ten-year learning opportunity enriched his skill.
He kept teaching fine arts in Canada for another 20 years. He won several provincial championships and various awards during his numerous solo and joint exhibitions in Canada.
He was an art teacher in his whole life. He served local community as a director, a vice president, and a permanent honorable president of OCAA.
Last year, James passed away peacefully at his 90 plus age. His relatives, friends, students and members of OCAA are still missing him. This memorial exhibition is a chance to review his beautiful artworks again and praise his contribution to the local art.
