October 16, Senator Victor Oh celebrated Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee and honoured her memory by awarding community members of Toronto, Ontario, with Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medallions. The medallions were awarded to the recipients in recognition of their contributions and generosity to their community.
There were a total of 60 medallion recipients who were recognized during the ceremony. Community members were nominated for their public service and selected based on a variety of factors, including outreach and fundraising.
“It was an honour to recognize community members with these medallions who have exhibited dedicated service and volunteerism to their community and to Canada. The contributions each recipient has made to our nation are most commendable and deserve recognition and praise.”
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medallions commemorated Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary of accession to the throne. Senator Oh honours this milestone as well as the memory of the Queen by recognizing community members who have demonstrated commitment and leadership to community service, qualities that were exemplified by Queen Elizabeth II during her reign.
