7th Canadian MCR Mahjong Open: Fostering Olympic Spirit and Intellectual Competition

This Open is the seventh large-scale Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR) competition organized by the Canadian MCR Sprots Association, and it is also the first physical Mahjong competition organized since the 2020 epidemic. This year’s Open still adopts the international “Rules of Mahjong Competition” promulgated by the World Mahjong Organization. Individual and team winners will be determined through eight games, rewarded, and corresponding trophies, medals and certificates will be issued.

We warmly welcome all national standard mahjong fans to actively participate and gather in Toronto to communicate with each other, jointly promote the Olympic spirit, advocate a healthy, scientific and friendly mahjong culture, and promote the vigorous development of intellectual competitive mahjong in the Greater Toronto Area and even in Canada.

As a long-term partner of the National Standard Mahjong Association of Canada, Easy Canada (esay.ca) will continue to give us all-round support. At the same time, we will cooperate with the Canadian Federation of College Alumni Associations (ccaacc.org), the Canadian Chinese Association (concn.ca) and the New Chinese Federation (ncccweb.ca) for the first time. We believe that the competition will attract more attention and participation of many national standard mahjong fans.

Introduction to the host
The Canada MCR Sports Association established in early 2015 has inherited the concept of the former Canadian Mahjong Association, which is to “come from the community and serve the community” to promote healthy, scientific and friendly mahjong activities in the community in any non-profit way, and to promote harmony in the community.

Over the years, under the organization and promotion of the Association, many national standard mahjong clubs have been active in many areas. Members of Qile, Beidou, Dongfang, Xile Nianhua, Hongfeng Wanxia and Happy Life, Downtown Club, Mimima, Fenghuayuan Mahjong Club and Toronto United Club actively participated in various regular games and competitions of national standard mahjong; It is mentioned that the Organizing Committee of the Canadian National Standard Mahjong Online Competition has organized several online competitions based on local conditions and with the help of the network platform. Especially during the epidemic, we have continued to carry out online weekly games and quarterly leagues for three consecutive years, sending care and warmth to mahjong friends who are confined at home. At the beginning of 2023, we and Gifted People Services jointly organized the Spring Festival Competition. We hope that through cooperation, we can arouse more attention and help from the society and the public to children with disabilities.
